PTA Welcome Message

Dear Parents/Guardians & Staff,

First of all, welcome to all *NEW* families! And welcome back to all families who have been here before! We hope you've had a wonderful summer! School is just around the corner and we have some exciting things planned for the year! You'll find some important information below. This information will also be provided to students in an envelope on the first day of school.

  • Our PTA is a nonprofit organization. PTA members advocate for our students, support programs and activities at Cooper, and through their dues are also members of the NJ PTA and National PTA. You can submit dues for 2022-2023 here. Our goal is to have 100% of Cooper families included. Here is the membership flyer if you'd like to send in your dues via check.
  • We are looking for volunteers for the 2022-2023 school year. Please take a look at and fill out the Parent Volunteer Form if interested. You can find a list of descriptions here
  • Are you still looking for school supplies? See the classroom school supply lists on the J.F. Cooper Elementary School website.
  • You can see what we have planned in our PTA Calendar. The Cooper School Calendar has important school dates and PTA events listed each month.
  • Do not forget about our Back to School Water Ice Night Friday, 9/9 from 6:30pm - 8pm at school! All families are invited!
    • Note: If anyone is interested, we will have some student sized Cooper T-Shirts available on Friday evening for $15 each. These shirts are different from the ones available in our Spirit Wear Shop - they say "Cooper Jaguars." “The Food Book” of coupons for South Jersey restaurants and businesses will also be on sale for $10 if anyone is interested. Copies will be on display. $6 of every Food Book purchase goes back to our school. We can accept cash or a check made payable to J.F. Cooper PTA for anything purchased at our PTA table.
  • Please share our PTA Mum Sale flyer with friends and family. Orders are due to school and in our PTA Store by 9/14.
  • We have a new Spirit Wear Shop! We are excited to be offering Cooper T-shirts, hats, beanies, and jackets. Orders are due online by 9/23. This website is separate from our PTA store.
  • We also have Spirit Socks. Orders are due by 9/23 (checks made payable to J.F. Cooper PTA) or you can order in our PTA Store.
  • Take a cooking break on our first Dine Out Day / Take Out Tuesday of the school year at On the Border - on 9/20 from 11am - 10pm
  • Join us at our first PTA meeting on 9/28 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm in-person and over Zoom. Agenda and meeting information will be posted on our website. Meet fellow parents and learn more about what's happening at school. We will also have a special guest, Laurie Dietch, to speak about the upcoming bond vote on 10/6/22.
  • Here is our September - December 2022 Dine Out Day / Take Out Tuesday Schedule. Take a break from cooking and help our school at the same time!
  • We’d love your photos for this year’s yearbook! E-mail Back to School and First Day of School photos to yearbook@jfcooperpta.org.
  • Our yearbooks are designed for all K-5 students. Pre-order the 2022-2023 yearbook for only $18 with the 2022-2023 Yearbook Pre-Order form.
  • You can easily support us without donating any extra money by using the RaiseRight app, earning Box Tops, donating clothes and shoes in the recycling bin at school, and using Amazon Smile. Read about our Year-Round Fundraising here.
  • We also collect books you are ready to pass on to students in need in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area in our beautiful Book Smiles bin located in the foyer at school. Send books in anytime.

Renew your PTA Membership for 2022-2023

Dear Cooper Families, Staff Members & Friends,

It’s hard to believe it’s already mid-August! We’d like to thank you so much for your support of our PTA in the past! We could not have accomplished everything we did without your support.

As we gear up for the next school year, we invite you to support our PTA again by becoming a member for the 2022-2023 school year. We need your support because together we can achieve more.

You can renew your membership at our online PTA Store website at: https://jfcooperpta.memberhub.com/store

Yearly membership dues are $10. Please note, as always, $4 of your dues goes towards the NJ State PTA and the National PTA, who advocate for our children within our state, nationwide, and in Washington D.C. $6 of your dues remain in our PTA.

You do not need to be an active volunteer in order to be a PTA Member. Parents, grandparents, neighbors, and community members are all invited to become a part of our PTA and show their support for our children!

The PTA board hopes to continue to help create connections within our community and make each child’s potential a reality. Thank you again for your loyalty and support!

Sincerely,

Shazia Ansari, President

Advocacy - *Urgent* - Your Questions about the Bond Requested

Dear Cooper Families,

We hope you have had an enjoyable summer so far!

As you are aware, there will be a bond referendum vote on October 6, 2022. The PTA's role in this process will be to share with our school communities and neighbors accurate information on the identified work, how the work will be funded, and so on. Although our children are in elementary school, the improvements needed are also relevant to their eventual middle and high school experiences.

If you have not already done so, please review the website http://www.cherryhilltomorrow.com. On this website you will find out about the history and facts about this process. There is also a tax calculator. $363 million of critical improvements are needed in a total of 19 Cherry Hill Public Schools and the BOE and administration have been very transparent on why these updates are needed. We need to educate the community and prevent misinformation. We would like everyone in our town to make an informed decision on this topic.

The Zone PTA board reached out yesterday to have meeting with PTA Presidents tonight on this topic. BOE President Ben Ovadia and BOE VP Miriam Stern will be making an overview presentation to us.

If you have any questions you would like us to ask on your behalf, please submit them to president@jfcooperpta.org or Amanda LeeMasci, advocacy chair and Zone PTA Treasurer, at advovacy@jfcooperpta.org by 4:45pm. We will need to submit your questions by 5pm tonight for our 7pm meeting.

** If you miss this deadline, please send your questions anyway so that we can get back to you. **

We will also be providing more information to you on this topic at our first PTA Meeting of the 2022-2023 school year on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 6:30pm.

Thank you for your kind attention!

Shazia & Amanda
