J.F. Cooper PTA Update - Week of May 24, 2021

• Thank you to everyone who stopped by McDonald's last Tuesday for our take out event!

• If anyone did not place an order for the yearbook with the rest of the group, please order your yearbook here by June 2, 2021 to receive it the same time everyone else does. After that, you will need to have it shipped home. Opportunities to purchase the yearbook have been available since February. The yearbook is currently in the printing stage at TreeRing. Don't miss out!

• Flower Power orders were delivered last week. Spirit socks and spirit wear were also delivered last week. There are 3 more spirit socks on the way and those parents have been notified.
• Room parents have been collecting funds for end of year parties and end of year teacher gifts. If you have not yet responded to your child's room parent, please reach out to them. If you need another copy of the room parent letter, please reach out to me at president1.cooper@gmail.com or vpofwaysandmeans.cooper@gmail.com.

• Our next PTA Meeting is June 3, 2021 at 6:30pm. All parents are invited to attend. PTA Board elections will take place at this meeting. Your attendance would be appreciated!

• Thank you for your cookbook orders. If anyone would still like to order a copy, please see our PTA Store. They will be delivered in June.

• The Virtual Night of Cultures will take place on May 21, 2021. We'd love to have your child participate in sharing their background, heritage, or family traditions. Please see information and register here. The deadline has been extended and slides will be accepted until Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

• Our next Take Out Tuesday event is at McDonald's on May 18, 2021 from 5-8pm!!

• Thank you to those of you who provided photos for our yearbook. Yearbooks are still on sale. Please login to TreeRing to purchase a copy. If you'd like to save on shipping charges, please order by Monday, May 17, 2021.

• Flower Power orders are arriving this week! You will be contacted when they are ready to be picked up. If your child is in school, it will be passed on to them.
• Spirit socks are here! They will be delivered to school on Monday.
• Spirit wear is here! Orders will be delivered to school on Monday.

• Our next PTA Meeting is June 3, 2021 at 6:30pm. All parents are invited to attend. PTA Board elections will take place at this meeting. Your attendance would be appreciated!

• Yearbook Information - Baby Photos, Recognition Ads, and Custom Pages are still being accepted until May 11, 2021. Please create a TreeRing account if you have not yet. See our newsletter for details. Here is a note from the publisher on orders:

        If you order 5/12 or earlier: Before Deadline - All orders placed with free shipping, books will arrive at school for distribution at the beginning of June.

        If you order 5/13 - 5/26: After Deadline - Ship to School - Parent/student will have to pay for shipping and books are shipped to the school separately from the group.

        If you order 5/27 and later: After Deadline - Ship to Home - Parent/student will have to pay for shipping and books are shipped to their home.

• Flower Power, Spirit wear, and spirit sock orders have not arrived yet. You will be notified once they do. Spirit wear orders are expected by Friday, 5/14.

• The PTA Meeting scheduled for May 13, 2021 has been CANCELLED. Our next PTA Meeting is June 3, 2021 at 6:30pm. All parents are invited to attend. PTA Board elections will take place at this meeting.

Cherry Hill Zone PTA Update - Week of May 10, 2021

 ZONE update:

• The next Zone PTA meeting is Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 9:15am.

• Guest Speaker: Scott Goldthorp, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction

• Zone Fair Funding Committee had a very productive meeting on April 29th.  Laurie Deitch has put together a flyer to help inform the community about Fair Funding and the Bond. 

• Community members can get involved by attending the next Fair Funding Committee meeting on Thursday May 27 at 7:00pm via Zoom or conference call in. 

• PTA Presidents received email notification on 4/27/21 of CHEA President Steve Redfearn’s generous offer to assist the PTAs with their Teacher Appreciation activities with a reimbursement opportunity of up to $250 per PTA. THANK YOU CHEA!

• Cherry Hill Lacrosse Summer League

• Registration for 2021 Cherry Hill Lacrosse Summer League is $125 for 5 Thursdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 at DeCou Turf Fields in Cherry Hill, NJ.

• Games will be small sided for maximum touches on the ball, and we will use a shot clock so the boys and girls play with pace.

• Each division is based on your son or daughter’s Fall 2021 grade, and is limited to 100 student-athletes.

• 5-6pm Fall 2021 Grades 1-4; (Goalies Gr 1-4 warmup from 4-5pm)

• 6-7pm Fall 2021 Grades 5-8; (Goalies Gr 5-8 warmup from 5-6pm)

• 7-8pm Fall 2021 HS & College

Providing a safe environment is a partnership between parents/guardians and the school district.   Please remind your school communities:

• To review the Travel Guidelines for Students when traveling out of town.

• Alert the school nurse about any planned travel to discuss the required post-quarantine guideline, prior to sending student back to school.

• Use the COVID-19 At Home Screening prior to sending students to school

• Report to the nurse if student or any household member tests positive for COVID, or if they have an actual or suspected COVID exposure

• Keep students home when they are sick

• Promptly pick up students if they become sick at school

• Save the date! "SEL-ebrate the Power of Social Emotional Learning" on May 12, 2021, at 7 pm. More details and link from the District this week. 

• School Age Child Care (SACC) registration for the 2021-2022 school year begins May 3, 2021. Full information is available on the School Age Child Care & STEP page of the District website.

• The Community Bulletin Board, found on the District website, offers information on programs, activities and events in the Cherry Hill area. The most recent Bulletin Board items include Big Brothers Big Sisters' call for youth participants, and YMCA of the Pines Summer Camps information. Check the Community Bulletin Board regularly for updates!

• Thanks to an extension of federal funds, CHPS distribution of FREE meals to ALL CHERRY HILL STUDENTS (public, private and home-schooled) continues on every Monday. Pick up 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 10 snacks per student from noon-2:00pm and 4:00-6:00pm at High School East or High School West -- no income threshold required!  

• Friendly reminder: Please mask up when picking up FREE meals/snacks! WE want to keep you & the Aramark team safe & healthy as they hand out meals to 1,000+ cars each Monday while being unable to maintain 6 feet of distance. These are state, Cherry Hill, Aramark & CDC guidelines. 

• Through the summer of 2021: Any family currently receiving free wifi from the District will automatically keep it through the summer, unless their youngest/only child is a high school senior (Class of 2021).

 

• 2021 - 2022 Kindergarten and 1st Grade Registration is ONGOING.  Full details available online.
